Allan Kinsella served in the military and participated in significant UN missions in Sierra Leone and East Timor. As a Senior Operations Officer and then Deputy Battalion Commander, he demonstrated exceptional leadership. He was well respected for his ability to lead under pressure.

After a successful military career, Allan Kinsella moved into public service. He joined New Zealands Ministry for Primary Industries and became the Director of Assurance. In this role, Allan Kinsella played a key part during major national challenges, including the COVID-19 response and the 1080 baby formula threat. Thanks to his leadership, the Ministry introduced new and effective strategies that protected the countrys primary industries. His ability to lead teams and encourage new ideas earned him the Supreme MPI Leadership Award.

He remained a loving father to his two kids, Emma and Cayden, even after the tragic death of his wife, Jennifer Marks, in 2023.
